Frequently Asked Questions
MAVIC is a closed source, purpose-built AI knowledge and navigation system created specifically for the military and Veteran community. Rather than drawing from random information on the open internet, MAVIC is trained on carefully selected source documents that contributing partners provide, leveraging decades of research, policies, legislation, program descriptions, and training materials. This partnership model expands the reach of each organization and offers nonprofits the opportunity to extend their impact while remaining aligned with a mission driven, technology forward initiative. As the intelligence layer within a proprietary system, MAVIC uses advanced yet carefully governed artificial intelligence to help providers quickly find the right sourced information and the right support.
MAVIC’s shared knowledge base is informed by decades of validated research, policy, and program data and is continuously updated to reflect changes and incorporate public guidance, eligibility changes, and program developments across key federal systems impacting military-connected services. MAVIC as a tool does not create any information but rather It gathers trusted research, policies, and program information into one place so professionals can quickly understand what a Veteran needs and what resources are available.
MAVIC works best when participation is intentional, governed, and purpose-aligned. It is not open to everyone by default; it is open to those who add value to, and responsibly use, shared intelligence.
MAVIC is open to:
- Organizations that play a direct role in shaping outcomes for Veterans, caregivers, survivors, and military-connected families
- Contributors of validated military and Veteran knowledge or practice-based insight
- Providers committed to evidence-informed practice and delivery
- Institutions that respect governance and stewardship on content standards
MAVIC is not open to:
- Entities seeking to market products or services
- Unvetted individuals or anonymous contributors
- Organizations unwilling to align with evidence, policy, or ethical standards
- Uses that prioritize self over public benefit
This keeps MAVIC from becoming noisy, biased, or extractive.
There is no membership fee for provider organizations or agencies that meet the participation criteria outlined above. Full participation is reserved for organizations that contribute validated information, content, or expertise to the MAVIC knowledge base. Limited-access versions of MAVIC may be made available to entities that do not contribute content but seek to use the platform to support service navigation and decision-making. Veterans, caregivers, survivors, and their families will never be charged for access to MAVIC.
You can support MAVIC by sharing your knowledge or experience and helping ensure the information it brings together remains accurate and useful. And if you know someone who works in research, education, government, or service delivery, sharing MAVIC with them helps grow the collective impact.
